Minecraft Forge

There are countless mods available for Minecraft, which add a wide range of new features, from better graphics to new gameplay mechanics. However, certain mods use certain resources and scripts which are not available in the game. If you want to make them works, then you need to install Minecraft Forge. It is an API, used by modders to create better and more interesting mods. For normal users, it's just something that needs to be installed, like DirectX.

The setup wizard places three options at your disposal, for installing a client or a server module or simply extracting the included components. Additionally, the installer lets you include a mod among the main components. The installation process shouldn't take more than a minute and there are no further options to go through.

Installing Minecraft Forge is sufficient if you wish to be able to use advanced mods. If you run the Minecraft client, after installing Minecraft Forge, you will find a new profile called "forge". Running the game with this profile will open up the possibility of using better and more complex mods.

With Minecraft Forge installed, you will notice additional loading bars while the game is booting up. Furthermore, a mods menu can be found directly in the game's main menu. Here you can inspect installed mods and make a few configurations if you need to. All mods are listed in a column, on the left side of the window and you can view descriptions for selected items in the larger area on the right. Also, you can find a number of mods that are already installed, which are the Minecraft Forge core components.
